Epiretinal membrane
This is a disease in which glial cells grow between
the vitreous and the retina, creating a membrane
in front of the retina that shouldn't be there,
causing objects to appear distorted.
Most patients are over the age of 50
and the frequency increases with age.
Retinography or optical coherence tomography is taken and, if necessary,
surgery is performed to remove the membrane from the surface of the retina.
In addition, 50-75% of patients develop cataracts as a
complication, so regular check-ups are required.
